I purchased a 97 civic around 2 years back with 120,000 miles on it. I have already taken it to over 190,000 and soon would be breaking the two hundred thousand mark. It has been a real pleasure driving this vehicle and it does the work which it claims to do.
It is one of the best commuter cars on the road and can give almost all other competitors a run for their money. Few of the things which I liked very much were – huge savings in gas, low maintenance, high durability, can be taken for long trips, and overall an easy ride. Although I have had to get some minor repairs on this 97 civic like with the brakes and changing of the tires but still I am happy with the money I put in. With a few good repairs it seems this car can easily run for a few more years.
The net savings for the gas which I was able to do on this one would probably give me enough to get another civic soon. However hope to run it as long as it gives me good mileage and good performance. The only gripe I have with my 97 civic is the paint which I had to get a custom paint job because of the dullness of color.
